The Imo State Correspondent of the Blueprint Newspapers and Founder of Eleazar Iwuoha Foundation, Comrade Chidiebere Iwuoha last weekend,  bagged the Holy Ghost College Owerri Merit Award for his humanitarian services to the less privileged.

His foundation, since inception about a year ago, has been engaged in activities aimed at bringing sucour to the less privileged by providing edibles, clothing, and giving them money to buy little things.

Just recently, Comrade Iwuoha took the exercise to another dimension by printing and distributing exercise books and pens to secondary school students in his community, Umueze Ogwa in Mbaitoli LGA and instituted an Annual Award for writers known as Eleazar Iwuoha Best Writer Award to enhance the writing skills of students.. But unsatisfied with this, he decided to replicate it  in his alma mater, Holy Ghost College Owerri where he  gave out several exercise books and pens to students and also instituted the Annual Best Writer Award, assuring that the modalities for the award would be determined by the college authorities.

Touched by the rare humanitarian spirit of Comrade Chidiebere Iwuoha and his foundation,  the leadership of Holy Ghost College Owerri Old Boys Association and the Organizing Committer of the 2026 Reunion of the Old Boys decided to honour him with a Merit Award  to encourage him and his foundation.

In a citation attached to the award by the National  Secretary, Barr Kayode Ojinnaka on behalf of the Holy Ghost College Owerri Old Boys Association, Iwuoha was described as  “a proud son of Holy Ghost College Owerri,  who represents the best of our values, excellence, service and love for community.

“As the Imo State Correspondent of the Blueprint Newspapers, you have told the stories of our people with truth,  courage and integrity. Your pen has brought light to the  dark corners, justice to the oppressed, and voice to the voiceless.

“But your impact goes beyond journalism. Through the Eleazar Iwuoha Foundation, named  in honour of your late father, Councillor Eleazar Iwuoha, you have touched lives in Umueze Ogwa and beyond.”

In conclusion, the citation says” Your father gave his life to public service in Mbaitoli LGA. You have carried that torch forward-not with noise, but with quiet dedication to education, empowerment and community upliftment”.
