The University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences (UAES) Umuagwo is set to hold its maiden Convocation Ceremony on Saturday, 5th September, 2026, on the campus, for the 2024/2025 session.
Addressing Media Professionals at the University Senate, on Wednesday, the Vice Chancellor of the Institution, Prof. Christopher Chiedozie Eze, said the first Convocation Ceremony will be remarkably unique.
Prof. Eze, who noted that 505 students would be graduating from the University – with 20 students bagging First Class Honors, added that the University would, in the Convocation Ceremony, confer degrees on First Two Graduating Sets: 2024/2025.
“On Saturday, we will confer degrees on First Two Graduating Sets. The 2024/2025 session produced 115 graduates from 14 departments, 6 of whom earned First Class Honors.
“The 2025/2026 session produced 390 graduates from 24 departments, 14 of whom earned First Class Honors, a stronger showing, at the highest level of academic distinction, from our second graduating set.
“In total, 505 pioneer graduates will take part in the Convocation procession on Saturday. I wish to place on record, ahead of the ceremony, our overall Best Graduating Students: Miss Alfred Ugochi Juliet, of the Department of Business Administration who graduated with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 4.92 for the 2024/2025 session.
“And Mr. Oji Shadrach Ozeum, of the Department of Marketing, who graduated with a CGPA of 4.90, for the 2025/2026 session”, the VC said.
The VC stressed that the academic feat recorded by the graduates was due to hard work, moral dispositions, hinting that most of them have been hired by private and group companies and organizations to demonstrate their academic skills and prowesses.
Stating that the University is ready to engage some of the First Class Graduates into the University if it gets waiver from the State Government, assured that many courses will soon get accreditation by the National University Commission.
He pointed out that the University, within five years of existence, has achieved great things, some of which include quality academics, agricultural, environmental and entrepreneurial skills.
Prof. Eze said the University is committed to encourage quality education with a view to advancing productivity, resourcefulness and development in the society.
He thanked the state government for its effort in promoting quality education in the University, urging the government to do more especially in the areas of funding.
