-Move Expected To Strengthen Political Engagement And Grassroots Mobilisation

By Ikenna Orioha

The Makinde-Daura Campaign Organisation has enlisted Ikenga Jonjude Okere, Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Caretaker Committee in Imo State, in a development expected to strengthen its political engagement, stakeholder relations and grassroots mobilisation.

Okere’s political journey has been characterised by participation in political movements, party administration, advocacy and organisational coordination. He was associated with the Obidient Movement during the 2023 general elections before assuming a leadership role in the PDP in Imo State, where he emerged as Chairman of the State Caretaker Committee in early 2026, a position he reportedly continues to hold.

An entrepreneur with a background in Creative Intelligence Consultancy, communication and public advocacy, Okere is expected to bring his organisational experience, strategic thinking and stakeholder engagement skills to the campaign organisation.

His political background reflects sustained involvement in political activities and a commitment to causes he believes in, particularly in the areas of political organisation, advocacy and grassroots engagement.

A key attribute associated with Okere is his emphasis on loyalty, teamwork and consistency in pursuing political objectives. These qualities could prove useful as the campaign organisation seeks to strengthen its structures, coordinate activities and engage political stakeholders across Imo State’s 27 local government areas.

His experience in party administration and political advocacy could also contribute to effective communication, grassroots mobilisation and coordination among supporters and stakeholders within the campaign structure.

Okere’s entry marks the involvement of another political figure with party leadership experience in the Makinde-Daura Campaign Organisation. His participation is expected to create opportunities for collaboration with existing members and stakeholders as the organisation advances its political activities.

Beyond his political affiliations, Okere’s background in communication and public advocacy could be an asset in communicating the campaign’s message and facilitating engagement with different groups across the state.

However, the extent to which his experience and networks translate into measurable results will depend on effective coordination, clearly defined responsibilities and cooperation among members of the campaign organisation.

His involvement adds another dimension to the organisation’s political engagement in Imo State, with attention likely to focus on how his experience and networks contribute to its activities in the months ahead.
