The alleged arrogance, over bearing conduct and attitude of Chief Amaobi Uwaleke, who has continuously flouted the directives of the Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma  led Imo state government by parading himself as the traditional ruler of Obibi Uratta autonomous community in Owerri North Local Government Area, despite the recognition and presentation of a Staff of office to HRH, Eze Bon Ariri, Eze Udo IV of Obibi Uratta autonomous community by the state government assumed a different dimension on Wednesday May 14 2025, as he was arraigned by the Police alongside his purported Nde Oha at Magistrate Court 6 Owerri, the state capital.

Amaobi who was not in court when the matter came up earlier in March on the ground that he traveled to London for medical checkup was present in court with his co-respondents as promised by his lawyer.

After taking their pleas, the case was adjourned to June 26. The respondents were granted bail with very stringent conditions which included N 5 million each, with 4 sureties, that must have verifiable landed properties in the jurisdiction of the court. They are also to submit two passport photographs each. Amaobi was also ordered to submit his international passport to the court

When it became imminent from the look of things that Amaobi and his group would be hurled into prison if they  failed to meet the bail conditions, he hurriedly fulfilled them and was allowed to go home.

Some lawyers and litigants who spoke on the condition of anonymity berated the embattled Amaobi for coming to court to respond to charges of impersonation with a car that has the inscription of His Royal Majesty, Eze Amaobi Uwaleke, Eze Udo IV of Obibi Uratta in addition to still having a big sign post that also bears the same inscription in front of his house at Umuorii Uratta. These, they said are indications that he has no regard for the court or the state government because he believes he is untouchable and above the law as he allegedly often claims.

A community source who confided in this reporter said, ^recall that shortly after the entire Uratta Nation celebrated this year^s Onwa Oru Cultural festival that was attended by the traditional rulers of the six component communities, Nde Oha, Presidents General, other stakeholders and their subjects, Uwaleke who has been a thorn in the communitys flesh and his group attempted to desecrate our cultural heritage by attempting to organize another Onwu Oru Festival at Orie Uratta, but were stopped by officers of the Nigeria Police. His convoy of miscreants and thugs opened fire on the Divisional Polce Officer at Toronto who  tried to address them. This led to the arrest of 10 of them, while Chief Uwaleke, alighted from his vehicle, hurriedly abandoned his followers and fled on foot with others through the farms and bush paths.  Some of the women and youths who had earlier barricaded the venue  chanted and sang songs of derision against him and his cohorts, while others  booed and jeered at the organizers who scampered in all directions as they hurriedly left in shame. Hence they did not succeed in perpetuating their sacrilegious act^
