The leadership and members of Orluzurumee, the apex socio-cultural organization of the people of Orlu zone at home and in the Diaspora has congratulated and extolled the virtues of Prof Ukachukwu Awuzie, a former Vice Chancellor of the Imo State University (IMSU) Owerri, on the honour conferred on him by the Academic Staff of Universities ASUU, Imo State chapter and the national body where he was President.
A Special Congress was convened in his honour as a well deserved tribute for an accomplished man who contributed enormously to the growth and development of academic unionism and higher education in Nigeria and beyond.
The President General of Orluzurumee, and Chairman, Former Members of Imo State House of Assembly (FOMIHA) Chief Ugocukwu Nzekwe, in a congratulatory message he signed, said, “Beyond the ivory tower, Prof. Awuzie has remained a guiding light within Orlu Zone. As Vice Chairman of the ORLUZURUMEE Elders Council, he has continued to lend his wisdom and influence in shaping the affairs of our community. Notably, his role in the emergence of the current ORLUZURUMEE executive reflects his unwavering commitment to unity development, and the political relevance of Orlu people”.
