Umuebie Progressive Youth Forum has rebutted an allegation by some persons in the area that the Town Union President General, Comr. Chijioke Ebirinwa, was imposed on the people.

This rebuttal was contained in a release signed and made available to Watchdog Newspaper by Kizito Duru, Coverner, Umuebie Progressive Youth Forum, on Sunday.

The Forum said the PG did not assume office through any backdoor or manipulation, as he enjoys the broad-based and unequivocal endorsement of all critical stakeholders of the community: Youths, Women, Ezes and  Executive of Umuebie Improvement Union (UIU), saying his leadership is not in dispute with any genuine group or individual as he carries himself with dignity, being visionary and accommodating.

The release added that Ebirinwa, being good and responsible, had single handedly changed the lives of many in the community by securing meaning employments for them, remarking that those peddling false claims of imposition are only attempting to rewrite history for selfish political reasons.

“Attention of Umuebie Progressive Youth Forum has been drawn to another sponsored and mischievous report being circulated by some desperate individuals whose sole aim is to distract our community, discredit our leadership and create confusion where none exists.

“These elements, who thrive in falsehood and division, have once again attempted to distort the truth and incite disaffection by claiming that the Chairman of Isiala Mbano, Hon. Chika Okoroike, imposed a President General on Umuebie autonomous community.

“Ordinarily, we would have ignored these antics as we have done in the past, but when lies are repeated without rebuttal, they begin to wear the robe of truth in the minds of unsuspecting citizens.

“It has therefore become imperative for us to speak with one voice and put the records straight. We owe it to ourselves and generations unborn to resist this attempt to manipulate facts and undermine the unity of our beloved community.

“We do not have any other home aside Umuebie, hence it behoves on us with good conscience to always ensure truth triumphs the intentions of mischief makers.

“Let it be stated without ambiguity that there has been no imposition of leadership in Umuebie. Our President General, Comr. Chijioke Ebirinwa, did not assume office through any backdoor or manipulation. He enjoys the broad-based and unequivocal endorsement of all critical stakeholders of our community; the youth, the women, our revered traditional ruler, and the executive of Umuebie Improvement Union (UIU).

“Umuebie Progressive Youth Forum reaffirms its total and unshaken loyalty to the leadership of Comrade Chijioke Ebirinwa, to our revered traditional ruler, and to the executives of the Umuebie Improvement Union. We stand firmly by them and reject the poisonous seeds of division being sown by a few restless individuals who place personal ambition above communal progress. Umuebie is bigger than any individual, and no amount of blackmail or propaganda will derail the path of peace and development that we have chosen.

“Umuebie is not in crisis. We are not divided, neither are we under any form of imposition. We have a President General who commands broad support, we have leaders who are working tirelessly, and we have a people determined to preserve the peace of our land. We therefore call on all true sons and daughters of Umuebie to ignore the distractions and rally together in defense of our unity, our dignity, and our collective progress.

“Enough is enough. Umuebie shall not be a playground for agents of confusion. We shall protect our peace, defend our leaders and uphold our heritage. Any attempt to destabilize us shall be met with the full weight of our collective will”, the group maintained.
