The Youth Wing of Ndi Igbo General Assembly has revealed that all those opposed to the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra ( IPOB) who has been in detention since his unlawful arrest and rendition from Kenya in June 2021 are those who connived with the federal government to arrest and detain him unlawfully.

The group which stated this in a release signed by its National Coordinator, Chief Emeka Nwadialo, noted that those who conspired with the federal government to perpetuate the unlawful act comprise politicians and some elites who benefit from government patronage.

“They are the biblical Judas Iscariot among the Igbos. They betrayed their kin because of pecuniary benefits that will not stand the test of time. Hence, they are now being haunted by the imminent consequences of their sordid deeds, knowing very well that if Nnamdi Kanu is freed, he will release a dossier of their activities and there would be no hiding place for them. That is why they have engaged their media hirelings to counter the clamour for the IPOB leader’s release which is imminent.

It is unfortunate that the same people that are opposed to Nnamdi Kanu’s release have been questionably silent over the controversial presidential pardon granted  some criminals of all shades. Yet Nnamdi Kanu has been in detention for almost six years despite the judgment of an Appeal Court that declared his arrest and rendition illegal. They have also not said anything about the several discussions that the federal government had with terrorists.”

The group described the actions and inaction of these groups of political leaders and elites as sabotage to the Igbo cause. They advised all those involved in such sabotage and others who have skeletons in their cupboards to retrace their steps.
