The Retail Operations Group of Access Bank has donated a Solar Powered Borehole to Umuokpo autonomous community in Owerri West LGA of Imo State to enable indigenes source good water. This is a humanitarian feat which many people described as a new year gift. 

The occasion of the inauguration of the borehole attracted the presence of dignitaries and prominent members of the community. Among them were the Traditional Ruler of Umuokpo autonomous community, HRH, Eze Eunan Ekeh (the Okpo 1 of Umuokpo community), the President-General of the community, as well as the Councillor, Chief Chinemerem Nkwocha.

Others included the Executive Vice Chairman of Owerri West Council, Hon. Osinachi Amako (No Vex) and his entourage, Barr. Clement Asoluka,  staff of Access Bank, among other important persons. 

Speaking, the Regional Director of Access Bank, Mr. Charles Oguibe, noted that the donation of the Borehole by staff of Access Bank to Umuokpo community was the first of its kind in Imo State, disclosing that the Bank used to assist pregnant women to undergo successful surgery and other health related assistance. 

Oguibe stated that the project was made possible by the  Access Bank staff in the Retail Operations Group, mentioning that the Solar Borehole was donated to the community free of charge. 

Adding his voice, the Zonal Head of Access Bank, Mr. Onyemauche Okere, who was happy of the feat, said that Umuokpo community should be grateful because their community was randomly selected without any external influence. He therefore urged them to take security of the facility as their priority.

With the raditional ruler of Umuokpo, Eze Eunan Ekeh, thanking Access Bank for the project, assuring that the community would guide the project well. 

The occasion climaxed with the donation of a brand new generator by Mr. Uchenna Okere on behalf of Chief Dr. Smart Obinna Unegbu to the community to power the Solar Borehole which the contractor said is a Highbreed, as it can be powered by both solar (Sun) and electricity.
