Following the recent Federal High Court Judgement in Ibadan, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State, has urged its members to remain calm and committed to solidify unity, formidability in order to drive the party to electoral victories.
This urge was made by the Chairman, Imo State PDP Caretaker Committee, Hon. Ikenga Jonjude Okere, through a release he signed and issued to the Media in Owerri, on Monday.
“The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Imo State, has taken note of the judgment delivered by the Federal High Court, Ibadan, as well as the official position of our great party as clearly articulated by our National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong, MNIPR.
“Regrettably, the judgment has been deliberately misrepresented by fifth columnists, prompting unnecessary anxiety and the circulation of misleading claims suggesting that the court recognized a rival faction within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“That narrative is false, mischievous and orchestrated to confuse party members and the general public. In plain terms, the Court held that only the appellate courts can resolve the conflict arising from existing Federal High Court decisions.
“We reassure the leadership, stakeholders and the teeming members of the PDP across Imo State that there is no cause for alarm. The National Working Committee has unequivocally stated that necessary legal steps, including the immediate filing of an appeal, has already been done to firmly protect the party’s position, pending the pronouncement of the appellate courts.
“In line with this position, the Imo State PDP Caretaker Committee urges all party faithful to remain calm, resolute, unwavering and fully committed to the ideals, unity, and progressive vision of our great party. This moment calls for discipline and collective faith in due process, rather than fear or propaganda.
“We emphasize that the Kabiru Turaki-led PDP, which emerged from the duly convened Ibadan Convention, remains legally intact and unshaken. The process of repositioning our party is firmly on course and Imo State PDP remains an integral part of this march towards repositioning our party for victory.
“History has shown that the PDP is a resilient party. Time and again, we have weathered storms and emerged stronger, more united and better organized. This moment will be no different. At the end of the day – sooner than later – our party will bounce back. We therefore call on all leaders, elders, stakeholders, youths, women and members of our great party across all levels in to close ranks and remain steadfast as we collectively work for the restoration and strengthening of the PDP in the state and across the nation”, Okere maintained.
