-Abductors Demand ₦10m
Suspected gunmen have reportedly abducted Mr. Onyema, popularly known as “Ganger,” a technologist in the Department of Physics at Imo State University.
The technologist, who oversees Physics practical sessions, was allegedly kidnapped by his assailants, who are now demanding a ransom of ₦10 million for his release.
A disturbing video circulating online reportedly shows Mr. Onyema in captivity, visibly injured and bleeding from stab wounds allegedly inflicted by his abductors.
Details surrounding the time and exact location of the abduction remain unclear at the time of this report.
The Imo State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement on the incident. However, members of the university community and civil society groups have expressed grave concern, urging security agencies to intervene swiftly to secure his safe and unconditional release.
The incident has heightened concerns over insecurity and the growing vulnerability of academic and technical staff in tertiary institutions across the region.
