Chief Evaristus Chinaka Okehi, an international businessman that is an active player in the import, export known for his inclination to human capital development particularly in his community, has emerged as the Nigeria Democratic Congress  (NDC) candidate for the Orlu, Orsu, Oru East Federal House Constituency of Imo State.

According to a release signed by Babatunde F. Alli, Chairman State Primary Election committee, Okehi scored 956 votes and was declared winner at the just concluded party primary election.

Some constituents who spoke to this reporter on the condition of anonymity, said, “Okehies emergence is a very welcome development that will enhance the electoral fortunes of the party because, aside from being a paradigm shift, his popularity and the goodwill he enjoys as a philanthropist an electoral asset”.

Besides, this is the first time that Orlu Federal constituency will have the opportunity of electing a non career politician as their representative contrary to the old order what many refer to as the old order in the federal constituency”. They also argued that the federal constituency has been grossly under-represented. They expressed optimism that the new breed of politicians that have the advantage of having travelled extensively in addition to sound historical background will not disappoint the electorate.

“Hence, Okehi deserves the support and encouragement of all and sundry to actualize his ambition”, They concluded.

Speaking with one of the Isu Clan leaders in Orlu LGA, Chief John Anyasoro stated that the emergence of Okehi is a consolation to Isu clan which has never had the opportunity to produce any of their sons in that capacity.

He noted that hid choice makes it even easier for the people of Orlu federal constituency to select competence and failure as we have witnessed in the past.
