Tension and anticipation are mounting across Orlu Senatorial Zone as the Orluzurume Youth Assembly (OYA) concludes arrangements to unveil its much-anticipated Legislative Performance Assessment Report, a document expected to stimulate public discourse on accountability, transparency, and effective representation.

The report was prepared by the Legislative Performance Assessment Committee constituted by the Assembly and chaired by Comr Nnamdi Achi.

Following its submission, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the youth body reviewed and adopted the committee’s findings ahead of its planned public presentation.

Addressing journalists in Orlu on Thursday, the National President of the Assembly, Prince Izunna Obiefule, disclosed that the executive carefully examined the report, sought clarifications on areas requiring further explanation, and was satisfied that the committee discharged its assignment professionally, objectively, and without bias.

“The executive has thoroughly reviewed the report, raised questions where necessary, obtained the required clarifications, and concluded that the Nnamdi Achi-led committee carried out its assignment diligently and impartially. Consequently, the Assembly will make the report public in the coming days,” he said.

Prince Obiefule commended members of the committee for their commitment, dedication, and integrity throughout the assessment process, noting that their work reflects the Assembly’s determination to promote good governance and strengthen democratic accountability in Orlu.

Reacting to reports alleging that some lawmakers with poor legislative records attempted to influence the committee to avoid unfavourable ratings, Obiefule dismissed the claims, insisting that the assessment was conducted independently and without external interference.

“There is no truth to such speculation. The Orluzurume Youth Assembly, under my leadership, remains accountable only to the people of Orlu. No individual or group influenced the outcome of the assessment. When the report is formally unveiled, it will be left for the people of Orlu to examine the findings and judge the performance of each lawmaker based on the evidence presented,” he stated.

The forthcoming report is expected to evaluate the legislative performance of elected representatives from the Orlu Senatorial Zone using measurable indicators, with many observers anticipating that its release will spark renewed conversations on effective representation, constituency engagement, and public accountability.
