The Special Assistant to the Governor of Imo State on Monitoring and Compliance, Nze Chinasa Nwaneri, has reacted to allegations that he led armed thugs to disrupt a meeting of the Nigeria  Democratic Congress (NDC) convened by Hon. Uche Onyeagucha at Umuoyima, Owerri Municipal Council.

The meeting was reportedly attacked by suspected thugs who allegedly assaulted party members, damaged chairs and tables, and inflicted injuries on some attendees.

Speaking with journalists, Nwaneri described the allegations as false, baseless and unfounded, insisting that he was not in Owerri when the incident occurred.

He questioned why anyone would link him to an incident that happened in his absence, describing the report as the handiwork of mischief-makers bent on spreading falsehood and creating unnecessary tension in the state.

Meanwhile, Hon. Uche Onyeagucha, in a statement issued shortly after the incident, alleged that:”The invasion of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) meeting at Umuoyima Hall during my Thank You Visit was carried out by thugs of the All Progressives Congress (APC) working for the Governor of Imo State. The operation was led by Chinasa Nwaneri, an aide to Governor Hope Uzodinma, and a man called Tapee, said to be an indigene of Abia State who grew up in Owerri.”
