A Federal High Court in Abuja, yesterday declared the former  Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha the authentic candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) for the Imo West Senatorial District also known as Orlu Senatorial Zone, thereby momentarily ending the legal fireworks between Okorocha and the incumbent governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma.

The court granted Okorcha all the reliefs he sought and also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to upload his name in their portal.

Okorocha, in a release signed by his Chief Press Secretary Special Adviser on Media, Sam Onwuemeodo, said  “the judgement is victory for Nigeria’s judiciary and the nation’s democracy. It is a resounding victory for Imo people and Imo West Senatorial District in particular. We thank the President for the unhindered constitutional rights”

Recall that Okorocha approached the court to contest the result of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for Imo West District. He also asked the Court to adjudicate on whether it is constitutional for Governor Uzodimma to contest the 2027 senatorial election to occupy another paid office, when his tenure as the elected   Governor  of Imo State would elapse in January 2028. And  the Court said, it is wrong.
