A Nigerian tech academy has launched its founding cohort, promising to take learners through the process of learning to earning.

Code Secure Academy (CSA) officials told newsmen that the academy which has opened registration for its first-ever set of classes, is offering four tech tracks at ₦5,000 each. The announcement marks the formal launch of the cohort-based academy, which is built for people who want to learn a gainful skill and use it to earn.

The academy was founded on the simple question: what next after learning? According to a statement from its founders, too many people who try to learn tech online end up with “a folder of videos, a certificate nobody asked about, and no idea what to do next.”

CSA’s answer is structured, tutor-led learning. Students in the founding cohort choose from four tracks — Frontend Development, Backend Development, Graphic Design and Cybersecurity — and learn together on set dates with a dedicated tutor. Nigerian students can pay by card, bank transfer or USSD, while visitors from other countries  will get the price in their own currency.

No prior experience is required. Complete beginners are welcome, as are learners who already know a little and want to go further. Classes run online two to three times a week, so location is no barrier, and students can start on a phone — though some tracks will eventually require a laptop, which tutors will help learners plan for.

The cohort runs for two months. Every student receives weekly projects and regular assessments, with a tutor tracking their progress throughout. The certificate is earned, not automatic: students must complete the sessions and pass a final project demonstrating they understood what they were taught.

Beyond the classroom, students gain mentorship, the chance to meet and work with other learners, and lifetime access to the CSA community. After graduation, they will be able to access remote and physical job opportunities, hackathons and tech updates from their dashboard.

“I built CSA because learning tech should lead somewhere,” said Victory Ugochukwu Emmanuel, Founder and Academy Director. “People finish courses and still don’t know how to turn the skill into income. We are fixing that.”

Prospective students can try CSA before paying. The website, www.codesecureacademy.com, is live, and its free tutorials — complete with a live code editor — require no signup. Founding registration is open until November 30, with classes beginning once it closes. Fees are non-refundable, and the academy encourages everyone to try the free tutorials first.

For parents and secondary school students, CSA notes that its programme is supervised and fully online, fitting around school schedules.
