The Action Alliance Candidate in the Appeal Court ordered Re run election for Orlu, Orsu and Oru-East Federal Constitutiency Barr Ikenna Ihezuo has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to declare the candidate of All Progressive Congress ( APC) Hon Edwin Ihenacho the winner of 25 January, 2020 Appeal Court Ordered re run election.
Barr Ihezuo stated this while briefing journalists on the outcome of the election which was conducted in 18 polling units all in Orlu Council area.
According to him, the voting centers favored the APC Candidate, Hon Ihenacho who incidentally hails from the Orlu Autonomous Community than any other candidate including the embattled PDP Candidate, Chief Jerry Alagbaoso from Ihitenansa Orsu LGA.
Continuing, Barr Ihezuo said that the voting started by 8:30 am but when the PDP Candidate, Chief Alagbaoso discovered that the voting was not in his favor,he deployed heavily armed thugs aided by some uniform men on the disguise of election duties to disrupt the voting mostly in his Booth 11, Amaike Eziachi ward but was saved by the timely intervention of the Military Personnel.
“The action continued but by the special grace of God Orlu people proved that the APC Candidate, Hon Edwin Ihenacho is their great and illustrious son and overwhelmingly voted for him. I am a lawyer and the candidate of Action Alliance (AA) for the rerun election, my people loved me but they prefer my brother, Edwin more than other contestants. Edwin has also done much for his community. Even if I am not contesting any election they know my worth.
“INEC made a mistake by bringing back the same controversial E O, Mrs Chidinma Nestor and the R O, one Dr Anaekwe who earlier declared the first election inconclusive and lately revised it after being compromised by the PDP Candidate for which I did not hesitate to grant a press interview immediately I saw that the INEC Officers have sold out, but I thanked God that the Court has remained the hope of the common man by ordering for a rerun election in 18 polling units all in my stronghold.
‘I wonder why the same electoral officers were sent again for the rerun election. Does it mean that iNEC as an election umpire is confused or lack man power to conduct elections? Also Chief Jerry Alagbaoso has taken Orlu federal Constitutiency to be his birth right, but thank God for the emergence of Hon Edwin Ihenacho. Only that INEC Returning Officer and the Electoral Officer, a woman who we learnt that the husband is a staunch Opposition party, PDP member has vowed to return no other person expect her preferred choice person but it can’t work” ,he submitted.
