Senator Francis Ezenwa Onyewuchi has presented a total of forty three projects and empowerment programmes his office has attracted in the past eighteen months for Imo East Senatorial District.
 The lawmaker while presenting the scorecard to editors of Imo newspapers vowed to continue being a strong voice not only for his zone, but also, for the South East Zone.
The ranking lawmaker fondly called the grand commander of empowerment by his people said some of his interventions for the region Included open condemnation on the floor of the Senate of the killing of Igbo youths at Emene, Enugu State; moving motion against the exclusion of South East from the board of Nigeria Communication Commission, NCC,  kicking against alleged influx of alamajiri into Igboland.and the motion calling for the revival of palm plantations in the country, with emphasis on South East. 

Giving a breakdown of his feats he said has over ten bills and his motions to his credit.
He listed as the motion on the urgent need to revive the Palm Oil Industry in Nigeria; Urgent need to end the menace of building collapse in Nigeria; need for the Federal Government to respect the principles of Federal Character as enshrined in the Nigerian Constitution and Motion on the exclusion of South East from the board of NCC

In respect of bills the lawmaker listed them to include Older Persons (Rights and Privileges) bill 2019; Money laundering (Prohibition Act) Amendment Bill 2019; Police Act Amendment Bill 2019; Tribunal of Inquiry Act (Amendment) Bill 2020; Labour Act Amendment Bill 2020 and Child rights Act Amendment Bill 2020

Senator Onyewuchi said  projects so far delivered by him are  the construction and furnishing of 2 Classroom block and Teachers’ office at Amaimo Community Secondary School, Amaimo Ikeduru LGA; Youth Halls at Tetlow Road, Owerri Municipal LGA; Emii  Owerri North LGA; and Nkwo ononuyo Market Square, Umuoma Nekede, Owerri West LGA.  Also included is a Skills Acquisition Centre at All Saints Cathedral, Egbu Owerri North LGA.


 He said his ongoing projects includes  construction of Obodo Ahiara/ Obodo Ujichi/ Akabo/ Ogwuma link road Ahiazu Mbaise LGA; Modern markets with Abbaittoirs at Eke ukwu Nnorie Market in Ngor Okpala LGA;  Ahia ORIE Amumara, Adakam Amumara in Ezinihitte Mbaise LGA, Afor Ajala in Aboh Mbaise LGA,  Nkwo Obohia in Ahiazu Mbaise LGA, Afor Obazu in Obazu Mbieri, Mbaitoli LGA; as well as  Modern market with borehole at Eke Atta Market, Atta,  Ikeduru LGA.


Also listed are  ongoing construction and equipping of modern ICT Centres at Immaculate Heart of Mary, Orji, Owerri North LGA; Anglican Church Umuguma, Owerri West LGA; and Government Secondary School, Owerri,  Owerri Municipal LGA.


 Senator disclosed further that he is undertaken   rehabilitation of six Solar powered bore holes  at Relief Market, Owerri Municipal LGA; Timber Market, Naze Owerri North LGA; Amakohia/Akwakuma Market Square, Owerri North LGA;
Other are located at Ihiagwa Market in Owerri West LGA and at  Orji Youth, Owerri North LGA.
Senator Onyewuchi said he donated brand new 500KVA transformers to  Amawuihe Autonomous community in Mbaitoli LGA;  Umunna Mbaise Mutual Aid Association at Bishop Court, Owerri; Amaruru Village in Iho Dimeze, Ikeduru LGA; Umulolo community of Ogbe Ahiara in Ahiazu Mbaise LGA  and Uzommiri layout in Amafor Imerienwe Autonomous community in Ngor Okpala LGA, to boost power supply in the communities.

On empowerment he said so much has been achieved and listed  them to include facilitation of CBN Business Support Loan for 380 business owners in Owerri Zone; facilitation of Covid-19 support grant for 100 women; massive recruitment of indigenes/residents of Owerri Zone into Federal establishments; distribution of food palliative  during the Covid-19 lockdown; and distribution of hand sanitizers, face masks and washing soaps.

Similarly, he said his office has distributed  Sewing Machines to 320 women;  distributed Grinding Machines to 320 women; distributed  315 tubeless wheel chairs to the physically challenged persons; trained and empowered 300 women  in Catering, Culinary Skills and Cake baking; and trained and provided  complete start off kit/equipment for 320 physically challenged persons and youths in GSM repairs, phone locking and unlocking.

He further enumerated  the training and provision of complete start off kit/equipment for 320 youths in Photography and Videography;  ICT training and provision of brand new laptops for 320 youths; Power point training and provision of brand new tecno tablets to 300 youths; training and resettlement of 500 youths and women in Cosmetology and training and resettlement of 15 women under the supervision of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs.


Senator Onyewuchi explained that he  also released grinding machines to 320 indigent widows, trained and empowered  320 indigent women with sewing machines, even as 315 youths received brand new motorcycles.
