The National leadership of the National Unity Party (NUP) has finally adopted and inaugurated the Imo state executives of the party and saddled it with the responsibility of moving the party forward and to occupy Imo state governorship position in the 2019.

 

The National Chairman of the party and National Secretary Inter Party Advisory Committee, Chief Perry Opara who performed the exercise had in his inaugural speech last Saturday at Imo state Rossy Arts Theatre Owerri described National Unity Party (NUP) as a bridge builder and envisioned that the party has come to reposition the Nigeria political system. He described Imo state as his home state of which he will not leave any stone unturned to ensure that good governance and rule of law strive. According to him, the only way to achieve such is by ensuring that good, tested and trusted people occupy the Imo state leadership stool, henceforth.

Chief Perry Opara also narrated how he emerged at the apex of the National leadership of the coalition of 15 registered political parties and incidentally the National Secretary Inter Party Advisory Committee which he averred as a miracle from Almighty God cautioned all the members of NUP Imo state chapter to remain focused, steadfast and pragmatic in their mobilization duties. While encouraging those looking for a better political party to align with to see NUP as the first option with passion to make a positive change.

Furthermore, Chief Opara congratulated APGA members in Anambra state for their efforts to ensure Governor Willie Obiano’s victory in the just concluded governorship election, where he stated that APGA has remained a member of the coalition. He encouraged all the members of NUP in the state for hard working as he alone without their efforts and contributions will do nothing. According to him, NUP is only out to win the Imo state guber election come 2019. On the issue of the party congress, the newly inaugurated state Chairman, Chief Olaokpu reaffirmed that only those who has worked to the upliftment of the party would be voted by the party delegates. He also thanked his colleagues from other state who came on solidarity and promised not to let any of them down.

The highlight of the occasion was the official inauguration of the Imo NUP state Chairman, Chief Bright Olaokpu a responsibility that was performed by the National Chairman, Chief Perry Opara who incidentally is an Imo state indigene and a Traditional Prime Minister in Mbaise community. He therefore urged the members of Imo state NUP to support the newly inaugurated state executives to enable them succeed.

Some prominent members and leaders of the party from other state were present at the occasion to show solidarity to NUP Imo state chapter. These include Comrade Felix Olie, NUP Delta state Chairman, Hon. Sunday Nwachukwu, NUP Enugu state Chairman, Hon. Henry Ebitebima Igwe, Bayelsa state NUP Chairman and Chief Ngozi Esinna; the Abia state NUP state Chairman. Others are National Executives of the party too numerous to be mentioned and host of other observers who described NUP as a good and tough party to beat, come 2019.

Responding, the newly inaugurated NUP Chairman Imo state chapter, High Chief bright Olaokpu thanked the party National leadership for doing them proud and promised to move the party forward in the state.
