Sequel to the outcome of the recent congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state and glaring indications that the Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has lost out in the subtle battle for the soul of the party in the state, most members of his cabinet are said to be considering resigning from their positions, especially those who intend to contest for elective positions.

Some of them also want to resign honourably, to avoid being thrown out with ignominy, as the Governor, is said to be suspecting them of double dealing and hob nobbing with members of the Imo APC coalition, a group that is diametrically opposed to his alleged highhandedness, obnoxious anti people programmes, policies and despotic style of governance. “The fact is that, most of them, having realized that the pendulum of political support, and mass acceptance in the state, is swinging in favour of distinguished Senator Ifeanyi Araraume and his group, are trying to smartly align themselves with him, in a bid to remain relevant after 2019”.

While this is on, members of the Imo state House of Assembly are said to be regretting some of their actions, especially their hurried, surprising and laughable endorsement of Uche Nwosu as the APC governorship candidate in the state.

According to one of them who spoke on condition of anonymity, what they were told will be achieved with their endorsement did not work out. “We were made to believe that, our signatures, endorsing Uche Nwosu was all President Buhari needed to validate his candidature and at the same time, guarantee us automatic return tickets as legislators. But from the look of things, we have not only miscalculated, but fallen into a booby trap that may eclipse our political horizon”.

It was also gathered that most people who used to flaunt and orchestrate their closeness to the Governor, are gradually distancing themselves from him in line with the popular parlance that failure is an orphan, while success has many relations and acquaintances.
