Rt.Hon Amara Iwuanyanwu,Deputy speaker of Imo State House of Assembly

Newly inaugurated Deputy Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu, appears to bestride his new office like a colossus with an appeal to the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, to immediately approve palliatives or relief materials to suffering and languishing poor Imo citizens. This he strongly believes will cushion the harsh effects of the pronounced lockdown following outbreak of Coronavirus.

The scion of the famous  Iwuanyanwu dynasty of Nwangele who represents Nwangele State Constituency did this by sponsoring a motion on the floor of the House to draw the attention of the Governor to the unbearable condition of life with reference to the outrageous hikes in prices of food stuffs and other materials including sanitizers that are very necessary for the prevention of COVID-19.

“Stressing on the need for Imo government to urgently set up machinery in motion on modalities for approval and distribution of a palliative and attendant establishment of a regulatory task force to monitor, regulate and punish offenders who will complicate the already worsening plights of Imolites by taking advantage of the dreaded Coronavirus pandemic in inflating outrageously, the prices of these common food items at a very critical time like this, Rt. Hon. Amara Iwuanyanwu enjoined the Governor to treat his motion with dispatch and the seriousness it deserves.

“I also prayed that the government creates a platform for Imo wealthy citizens to support the government to provide relief materials for Imolites during this period by donating generously in cash, food items and preventive materials to cushion the effects of the stay at home order on the citizenry”, he averred.

He further thanked His Excellency, Governor Hope Uzodinma for bringing out quick measures aimed at curbing the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic despite the obvious that no incident or death has been confirmed or recorded in Imo State.

Rt. Hon. Amara Iwuanyanwu is perhaps the only prominent Imo citizen that has given the issue of provision of palliative measures to Imolites, a top priority with his passionate appeal to the Governor to do something urgently to ameliorate and alleviate the sufferings of the people.
