The indigenes of Nnenato-Ihioma community in Orlu LGA of Imo State, converged at the community’s secretariat, Umuezeala hall on Saturday 7th August, 2020, where they elected a new traditional ruler, after the one year mourning period for their deceased monarch, HRH, Eze CSO Okafor.

Chairman of the community’s Ezeship selection committee said, the new traditional ruler, Chief Clifford Okoronkwo-Uba (Ugwumba I of Ihioma Ancient Kingdom) was chosen because he was the only person that bought the nomination form at the expiration of the nomination process, hence he was unanimously chosen by the people, who affirmed his nomination with a resounding ovation.

The Eze Elect was thereafter, formally presented to the elated crowd, amidst wide jubilation and a procession from the hall to the Ihioma market square.

Some of those present at the occasion include Chairmen and Secretaries of the five villages that constitute Nnenato-Ihioma autonomous community, Mr Humble Okoronkwo, a member of Orlu Interim Management Committee, who also represented the member for Orlu State Constituency in the state legislature, Chief Pascal Okolie (Ebekuodike), Engr O’Bright Achinike, an illustrious son, who represents the community at the Orlu IMC. The Divisional Police Officer for Orlu and gentlemen of the press.

The Eze elect in his acceptance speech, thanked the community for finding him worthy of such revered position. He promised to add value to the traditional stool and institution, ensure peace, harmony and mutual co-existence. He also assured that his reign will enhance empowerment opportunities for all, especially the youths.

The President General of Town Union, Cyracus Ajeh Obiefule, thanked the people for their peaceful conduct and urged them to support the new Eze-elect to succeed.
