– As Tinubu Commissions 3 Newly Rehabilitated Roads
The indigenes and residents of Abia State have commended the state Governor, Alex Otti for rehabilitating another set of three roads which President Bola Ahmed Tinubu commissioned yesterday.
A release issued by the Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, stated that the roads which were commissioned include Omoba Road, Jubilee Road and Queens Street, bringing the number of roads rehabilitated by the Otti administration in barely eight months to nine.
The release further stated that, “This exercise is in addition to the commissioning of the Geometric Power Plant in Aba on Monday , February 26th by Mr. President; a power plant that will provide uninterrupted power supply to Aba and its environ”.
The Commissioner thanked the people of Abia State for coming out en-masse to welcome the president and also witness the epoch making event, which is line with the resolve of Governor Alex Otti’s administration to offer quality and effective leadership that will ameliorate the plight of the people and restore their confidence in the system.
Speaking at the commissing of the 181 MW Geometric power plant in Aba, Abia State, the Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, who represented President Bola Tinubu noted that the project is part of federal government’s responsibility for the nation’s industrialization in fulfillment of the promises made by President Tinubu.
He said, “this marks a renewal of hope for industrialists, for investors, and for the homes that have long endured the consequences of Nigeria’s power supply deficit.
“The Light Up Nigeria project powers the hope of our industrialists and serves as a long-awaited solution to the power supply deficit that has undermined our economy over the past decades. So, this intervention isn’t a ribbon-cutting charade. This is a calculated endeavour to re-engineer our economy, and whatever we design to oil the wheels of our industries is futile unless we stabilize the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI)”.
The VP had on October 12, 2023 flagged off the initiative in the South West at the Agbara Industrial Cluster, with stakeholders committing to the successful implementation of the project across the country.
