The former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and Imo state PDP governorship candidate in the 2015 general elections Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha has congratulated the newly elected National Chairman of the People Democratic Party (PDP) Prince Uche Secondus on his emergence and that of the new national executives which took place last weekend, at the party’s elective national convention in Abuja. He said it was a sign post for the future.

In a statement issued in Abuja and made available to Community Watchdog Newspaper, Chief Emeka Ihedioha stated that the smooth and transparent conduct of the convention after all the internal squabbles and wranglings are clear indications that the PDP is poised to take back the reins of power in 2019.

He enjoined the newly elected executives to immediately embark on proactive with a view to making giant strides by consolidating on the achievements hitherto recorded by the Senator Ahmed Makarfi led National care-taker committed and work towards rebranding, and rebuilding the party for future challenges.

According to Ihedioha, “the emergence of Prince Uche Secondus, a man who is best described as a pragmatic, loyal party bureaucrat, well equipped with the mastery of the working and dynamics of party administration as the National Chairman of our great party, is very significant and indeed an audacious move by the PDP, in our quest to save our dear country from further slide to anarchy”.

He further stated that “I am without any iota of doubt that the newly elected officers are tested men and women who would certainly live above board in the discharge of their duties while ensuring that genuine party members are given every sense of belonging with absolute focus and dedication” devoid of the age long god fatherism and imposition of aspirants.

He therefore urged all party faithfuls and appealed to Nigerians in general to join hands with the new PDP executive as they begin the onerous task of building a party strong enough to play its role in nation building, as a virile opposition party and indeed one that is acceptable to Nigerians as the only alternative to the APC government in 2019.

Ihedioha also assured the new National executives of his support and loyalty and called on all estranged members to close ranks and commit themselves to the progress and victory of the party adding that “the umbrella is wide enough to accommodate all of us”.
