The Publisher and Editor-in Chief of the Community Watchdog Newspaper, Comrade Precious Uwadikechere Nwadike has been nominated as “media personality of the year” by an Owerri based Non Governmental Organization (NGO) “Imo Community Development Association”.

Comrade Nwadike, a Human Right Activist and Co-ordinator Imo State chapter of the “Ourmumudondo Movement” and the immediate past President of Orluzurumee Youth Association is one of the 10 distinguished Imolites and institutions slated to be honoured with merit award at a scheduled “excellence award ceremony, for their visible contributions to the society through Community Watchdog Newspapers in-depth reportage, and investigative journalism.

 

In a letter of nomination to the awardee the association stated that the choice of Comrade Nwadike as media personality of the year for Imo 2017 was arrived at after a scrutiny of the antecedents and achievements of the nominee and the outfit by the board of the Association. 

The association observed that political will is a good leadership quality that every leader needs to execute doubting issues and that the award is in line with “our belief in recognizing personalities and institutions that have  have exhibited excellence, boldness and courage towards  making Imo State and Nigeria better places to live.

Imo community Development Association, organisers of the “Excellence Award ceremony is the first NGO that has attracted the highest number of federal presence in the history of Imo State through N-power as a social intervention programme for the unemployed graduates in Nigeria and market interest free loans for small scale businesses.

The association through its sagacity has successfully empowered 20 unemployed graduates from the three senatorial zones of the state in the recently concluded second batch of N-power scheme of 2017.

As part of its activities, Imo Community Development Association has attracted the presence of private the sectors through MTN Foundation Initiative in the state to site developmental projects like water boreholes, rural electrification, provision of hospital equipments and school furniture which has impacted on 400 communities across Nigeria since 2015.

The Excellence award ceremony is expected to take place on 24th February 2018 at Rockview Hotel Owerri, by 12 noon.
