As 2019 general elections approach, it does appear that the immediate past Principal Secretary to the Governor of Imo State and APC aspirant for Ideato North and South Federal constituency, Dr. Paschal Obi, is not finding his feet. This is sequel to the electorate resolve on to fight back owing to what they describe as heartless and mindless acquisition of their property by the Owelle Rochas Okorocha led government.

Sources in the area who confided in the Community Watchdog Newspaper maintained that though Dr. Paschal Obi has been dotting the Is and crossing the Ts, his efforts would end in futility because it is alleged that he was the brain behind the mindless appropriation or confiscation of their native lands having served as the anchor person who smoothened Governor Okorocha’s desperation in land grabbing in the areas.

” For instance, the Eastern Palm University site was forcefully acquired from Ogboko, Obohia and Akokwa communities through Paschal Obi’s intervention. Till the time of filing this report, people of the areas are still aggrieved and embittered over the non-payment of commensurate compensation to the original landowners.

Those who spoke out loud against this injustice and depravity were subsequently harassed and intimidated into submission with a number of them arrested and locked up and detained for several months without trial. Our source also accused Paschal obi of fronting for Okorocha and frustrating efforts to compensate the landlords. He even identified the youths who destroyed the effigy of the Governor while protesting the forceful confiscation of their lands and handed them over to the police for torture.

Another source reveals that Dr Paschal Obi had found himself in dilemma where refusal to implement Okorocha’s quest for lands, would have landed him in trouble. However, enhancing the forceful acquisition of those lands for Okorocha, has so far favoured the former Principal Secretary who apart from being the only one promoted from level 14 as Deputy Director to the highest office of permanent secretary in the state for over 7 years. Paschal Obi, has also become so wealthy over night that he is a proud owner of one of the biggest real estates and choice properties located at Akwakuma roundabout, and elsewhere in the country within the last seven years.
