Chief Okay Dike, acclaimed pharmacist, seasoned administrator, politician and erstwhile legislator for Isu state constituency and former Deputy Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, has drummed support for Comrade Precious Nwadike, Orlu zone senatorial candidate of United Progressive Party (UPP) in the 2019 election.

Hon Dike, a fellow of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), and Chairman of the Imo state chapter of PSN said, Comrade Nwadike is a versatile, focused and dependable young man, who has what it takes to effectively represent Orlu zone in the senate.

He stated this when the UPP candidate paid him a visit over the weekend in Owerri, to formally inform him of his aspiration and also unveil his blue print for Orlu people, while seeking his blessing and support.

Speaking during the visit,Comrade Nwadike, said, “when I heard that Hon Dike, who is at home with and understands the plight of his people was in the race, I was excited and heaved a sigh of relief because, as a politician, he has been in the vanguard for decent and purposeful politics in Nigeria. These values attracted and endeared him to me, hence I took him as an exceptional leader. He has been consistent since then and has till date, not disappointed the youths of Orlu zone, who hold him in very high esteem”.

Comrade Nwadike used the opportunity to intimate Hon Dike, who is also, Chairman of Nigeria Cement Company, Nkalagu of his programme for the 12 local government areas of Orlu zone, stating that none of them will be short-changed, abandoned or left out of the scheme of things. He also assured, that as a senator, he will not claim constituency projects as part of his achievements but will use his position to attract more developmental projects to the zone, in addition to the constituency projects, which he said is the right of the constituents. He regretted the hazards posed by the Umuna erosion site, Mgbee-Umuchima erosion site and other erosion sites in Orlu zone, and promised to address them as soon as he is elected.

In his response, Hon Okay Dike expressed excitement at Comrade Nwadike’s aspiration and stated that, he has been worried about the future of the South East geo-political zone, since after the APGA primaries. He wondered how and why he was disqualified from contesting the primary election for Orlu senate ticket, after being Chairman of contact and mobilization committee of the party. “This in my mind, is broad day robbery. I have forgotten about it and moved on with my life. However, having lost out, I am happy that Comrade Precious Nwadike, a grassroot mobilizer, with a well articulated blue print of action that will enhance integrated development of Orlu zone in the race. I am therefore willing to mobilize the necessary support for him to succeed in his bid”.

He advised Comrade Nwadike to remain focused and refuse to be overwhelmed or intimidated by the amount of money his opponents will throw around because, it will not be business as usual in 2019, as people will be voted for on the basis of their individual capacity, and track record.
