The leadership of Orluzurumee Youth Assembly led by Comrade Christian Okolie has condemned the suspension of two prominent sons of Orlu zone, who are serving as Clerk and Deputy clerk, respectively of the Assembly. They are Chief (Barr) Chris Duru and Mr Eleberi.
Addressing Newsmen shortly after an emergency meeting of the youth body in Owerri, yesterday, Comrade Chibuike Odunze, National Publicity Secretary of OYA alleged that some desperate politicians are dropping names, with the objective of creating problems for the new administration.
Odunze argued that the governor, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha may not be aware of the activities of these name droppers who are now insisting that the Clerk and his Deputy step aside for their preferred candidate to emerge.
In a separate release made available to newsmen, jointly signed by the President and Publicity Secretary of Orluzurumee Youth Assembly, they want those behind the suspension of the two Orlu sons to have a rethink.
The release reads in part, “we had before now raised an alarm that there are some faceless persons, especially old politicians who have allegedly collected money from individuals in a bid to help them secure appointments”. We have evidence of this. We also know all those behind this conspiracy against Orlu sons. However, we shall in due course unmask the persons involved in this wicked plan, including a former Deputy Speaker of the same Assembly.
How do you suspend Clerk and Deputy Clerk, the same time? It is obvious they are in for a hatchet job. We are worried because this was how it started in 2007 when some overzealous politicians and clannish bigots began to pencil down Orlu sons and daughters occupying government positions just to create room for their own brothers. How do you explain a situation where two Orlu sons who were at the apogee of their career, would be disgraced out of office via a purported suspension.Worse still is the fact that another Orlu daughter,Mrs L.C Okafor who has been on transfer to ISOPADEC office is more a senior staff of Imo State House of Assembly than the candidate they want to install as new Clerk but because she is an Orlu person,they don’t want her”,the group revealed.
Continuing the release stated,”Only recently, the House of Assembly constituted a panel of four (4) members all of whom are of Orlu extraction with Hon Chika Madumere as chairman and charged them with the task of probing the Clerk of the House and his Deputy.
The idea is to incite discord among Orlu brothers, in a bid to pave way for the selfish interest of one of their own, who is busy positioning a trend of his as replacement. No wonder the incessant change of guards at the Assembly complex that made itself a tool in the hands of the former Governor”.
Meanwhile,at press time, no tangible reason has been given for the suspension slammed on the duo.
