A retired Permanent Secretary and Secretary of Retired Permanent Secretaries in Imo State, Chief F.I Agba has berated governor Emeka Ihedioha, for not making any frantic effort in reviving the civil service which he said was destroyed by former governor Rochas Okorocha.

Agba disclosed this yesterday in Owerri while fielding questions from our reporter.

He revealed that, contrary to the media hype that the pensioners’ lights are being addressed by the present administration, nothing much has been done. “I am worried that Ihedioha appears to have maintained Okorocha’s style that destroyed the civil service in the state”, he averred.

“Even though it is early to begin to rate his performance but we haven’t seen any indication that he will be different from Okorocha.By now, he should have concluded the process of paying pensioners”, he stated.

Agba condemned the idea of engaging a consultant to pay pension in the state, alleging that every personal data of pensioners in Imo state has been carried to a woman for reason we don’t know. Continuing, he described the politicians in every democratic society as representatives of tax payers while the civil servants stand in for the government but “unfortunately, the politicians have derailed so much that they mindlessly destroy the system pretending to carry out governance of the state”.

He likened the development to what was obtainable under former Governor, who also contracted one Miss Chinyere Uwandu, to handle pension funds and today, see what that singular decision has caused the state. According to Agba, “it even got to a point when some government appointees were quoted as saying, that pension is not a right but Governor’s benevolence”.
