The sacked Commandant General of Imo Civil Guard, Mr. Donatus Ejifugha, has taken a swipe at his successor, Mr. Martin Ekeh, Ph.D who had earlier vowed to expose the rot in the state government owned para-military security outfit and to sanitize the agency.

In a press statement made available to our reporter, yesterday, Ejifugha through his cousin, Desmond Duru accused Ekeh of salary padding and other sundry allegations. The source stated that from the onset, Duru had been a ghost worker and may be a victim of effort by the present Acting Director General, Ekeh, to purge the agency of bad eggs and eliminate ghost workers.

In his reaction to the said allegation, the security agency’s Director of Information, stated that the agency is owing some months salary to their staff, as a result of the ongoing regularization process, which is almost concluded. He stated that Duru’s attack on the Acting Commandant General is face-saving, attempt to divert attention from his former boss and himself.

He described Ejifugha and his cohorts as purveyors of falsehood, stating further that they lack knowledge of the reform the current Acting Commandant General has introduced within the shortest time, which has earned him so many accolades, both in Imo and beyond.

The Information officer said, “Our salaries have not been paid since May, because the governor just signed up for the payment. Desmond Duru is the first cousin of the outgone Commandant General, Donatus Ejifugha, who increased selected junior staff salaries without government approval. Our duty is to correct those wrongs, old staff who had put in 15 years in-service still take below those selected new staff and sex scandal is Donatus Ejifughas, lifestyle.

He is under probe for diverting staff welfare to the tune of the 40 million. He stole our Tata Hilux van and Tata truck and went as far as putting all members of his family and even village members on salary”, the Director of Information revealed.

When contacted, the Acting Commandant General of Imo Civil Guard, Martin Ekeh denied the allegation. He further started that he is preoccupied with activities to rebuild Imo State, in line with Governor Emeka Ihedioha’s agenda.
