In a quick reaction to last Saturday, August 31, 2019, meeting of South East Governors with the Minister of Aviation over the worrisome security situation in the region, the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has accused the Governors of colluding with the Federal authorities to undermine the security of the region.
Mazi Kanu to buttress his claims has queried the South East Governors on the “Operation of Python Dance II (Egwu Eke)” and the proscription of IPOB in the South East in full realization of the python dance.
The South East Governors were reported to have met last Saturday, August 31, 2019, with the Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, Heads of Security Agencies, at the National, Zonal and State levels. The Managing Director of FAAN, prominent leader of the zone led by President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo, and Professor Barth Nnaji, were among prominent participants at the meeting.
After the long hours extended meeting, the Governors resolved to commence a joint air operation to flush out bandits from all forests in the South East zone, and to make the exercise a continuous one. At the same time the Governors verbally banned the movement of herdsmen and free use cutlasses, which had hitherto caused a lot of heinous crimes in the South East, maiming and killing farmers, kidnapping and rapping women in the farms and sacking some villages in Enugu, Ebonyi and even Imo states.
On the obnoxious python dance that has become a source of worry and terror in the state with a number of extra-judicial killings in some places, the South East Governors said that they “never invited the army nor were the Governors informed of the exercise until its operations had started in the State”. Nnamdi Kanu however claimed that it is a face-serving statement and thus queries, that “if the Governors were not in support and full knowledge of operation python dance, why did they on their own proscribe IPOB”, perhaps referring to the invasion of his domain and his fathers palace in Abia state, leading to his flight to exile.
He asked “who is fooling who and observed that the present moves of the South East Governors is rather too late, as he revealed on his twitter page on line that “the same Northern leaders instigating you to fight peaceful IPOB, is busy negotiating and financing their Fulani bandits”, who have recently engaged in terrorist activities, kidnapping, killing farmers and Catholic Priests, raiding and pillaging villages of South East and middle belt states.
