We are committed to remodel City- IMC chair

Okigwe Local government area, being one of the most developed cities in Imo State, after Owerri and Orlu did not lose its place of pride, in the ongoing LGA project inspection embarked upon by the Imo State Governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon Emeka Ihedioha (OON).

According to our reporter who was part of the media team that visited Okigwe LGA on Monday October 21 for the inspection, the governor did not hide his excitement on getting to the council headquarters where the Interim Management Committee (IMC), ably led by Hon. Paul Uche, is building an ultra modern one story hall complex, with 500 sitting capacity for each of the halls.

Speaking at the occasion, Governor Emeka Ihedioha said that he is impressed with the location of the building which is directly opposite the Play ground. The governor noted that, even though his cardinal projects for all the LGAs in the state, are Stadium and Secretariat, the Chairman and his team had done well in coming up with the laudable project of a 1000 capacity event centre.

It was also gathered that the governor had before the visit approved building of the halls and secretariats for Okigwe zone, considering the fact that the Local government already has a Stadium, hence the approval of alternative projects.

This as gathered is not peculiar to Okigwe local government,Orlu LGA also has such directive as it already has a stadium but expected to remodel it, which project is ongoing.

The governor commended the pace of work in the council headquarters, saying that the LGA is among the local governments that have done well. He advised the IMC to re-grass the playground to have a semblance of a modern stadium.

Among projects initiated by the Interim Management Committee (IMC), on assumption of office was renovation of the Council headquarters which is said to be wearing a new look now and envy to others.

Apart from the approved projects by the State governor, Hon Uche had long embarked on massive road grading and filling of potholes in and around the city, ensuring that most roads in the area are passable.

Speaking with newsmen, Hon Uche said that they are determined to change the face of Okigwe LGA.He appreciated the governor of the State for the privilege to serve his people, saying that the LGA has never had it this good before.
