Following series of media reports allegedly and expectedly authored by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma, in the person of Mr Oguwuike Nwachukwu, who in most cases delights in attacking his colleagues in the noble profession, keen observers mostly among the supporters of the present Imo administration have expressed serious concern about how the CPS is seriously demarketing the government. He is steadily toeing the path of his kinsman, Samuel Onwuemeodo, who did more damages to ex-governor Okorocha’s rescue mission administration by acting as his attack dog even against his fellow journalists.

One of the top government appointees who spoke to this reporter on condition of anonymity said that the CPS is untouchable because, “Oga appears to have inherited him from one of the top APC stalwarts in Abuja. We suspect he may have come from Adams Oshiomole, the APC national Chairman. It is shocking to know that Oguwuike Nwachukwu is the only appointee assigned to three (3) rooms in Concord Hotel. Who else amongst us has such privilege? What he does in those three rooms are what I cannot explain here, moreover when his family doesn’t even live here”, the source expatiated.

According to him, even though the Governor acknowledged that the said Oguwuike Nwachukwu is demarketing him, finds it extremely difficult to relief him of the office.

He said, “my oga I know, won’t waste an hour if he realizes that an appointee is not performing as expected of which in most cases, could be as a result of blackmail from those who eye the very position that the person currently occupies. For instance, you can see what happened to the ENTRACO GM, Macdnald Ebere. Some persons went and gossiped. The Governor dealt decisively on that report by constituting committees to carry out same assignments.

“All they wanted was to take his job and governor promptly acted but in the case of CPS who occupies a very sensitive position as the image maker of the Governor, the Governor looks and acts indifferent. I am worried because the CPS may not be able to contain Imo journalists when the chips are down”, he said.

Like his kinsman Sam Onwuemeodo, who also likened the fate of Imo journalists to that of late Dele Giwa who was extinguished by state actors for displaying courage and deep knowledge in investigative journalism, Oguwuike Nwachukwu had threatened one Ambrose Nwogwugwu, Director General of Imo PDP new media for criticizing his Principal, Governor Hope Uzodinma thus pitting the Governor against Imo journalists.
