The former Deputy Speaker and member representing Mbaitoli in Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Okey Onyekanma, has denied allegations that Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha recented visited the State House of Assembly to beg the Speaker, Rt. Hon. (Dr) Chiji Collins for a soft landing over allegations that he mis-appropriated over N19 billion local government fund in seven months in office.

In a release issued from his office and signed by his SA Media and Publicity, Justice Chukwunatu Nwafor, dated May 7, 2020, and captioned, “N19.68 Billion LGA probe, Onyekanma, Ihedioha, didn’t visit Imo Assembly to plead for lawmakers”, he described the mischievous peddlers of such wicked rumour as fake. He dared them to substantiate their false news where they willfully edited an old picture to give underserve credence to their misinformation and mischief in order to give the news a semblance of fact.

The release read in part,“We wish to state, without any fear of contradiction that the picture was taken in July, 2019, when Rt. Hon Emeka Ihedioha, as then governor visited the Imo State House of Assembly Complex to inspect the level of infrastructural decay in response to the alarm raised by concerned Imolites that the IMHA complex was a disaster waiting to happen.

It is unfortunate to note that some people who are on wild goose chase doctored the picture and imputed the picture of the Governor of the state, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma, asserting that HE Rt. Hon Emeka Ihedioha and Rt. Hon Okey Onyekanma (Nmaoha) visited the speaker of IMHA, recently.

The news is fake and we urge the general public to treat it as such”, he maintained.
