The immediate past Deputy Speaker of the Imo state House of Assembly (IMHA) and member representing Mbaitoli state constituency, Rt. Hon. Okey Onyekanma, has awarded scholarship to the triplets who were born premature after their mother, Nkechi Ezenwa, 20, a banana hawker, was raped.

Onyekanma, who spoke on Friday August 28, 2020 while commissioning a two bedroom bungalow built for the triplets at Ubomiri by a United Kingdom based Nigerian who does not want his name mentioned, said that he would take care of the academics of the children from pre- nursery to university levels.

He said that with quality education, the triplets would be great in life.

The lawmaker said that the scholarship scheme would continue even if he leaves government, or stops representing Mbaitoli in the State House of Assembly.

Onyekanma commended the Punch Newspaper Reporter, Chidiebube Okeoma, and his team, for launching the advocacy for public financial support for the children.

According to him, Nigerians had through the unprecedented love they showed to the triplets displayed that the country is made of people with compassionate citizens.

Also at the occasion of the commissioning of the apartment the member representing Mbaike Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Abuja, Hon. Henry Nwawuba, said that the love shown to the family was amazing.

Nwawuba, who was represented by the Director General of His Campaign Organization, Engr.  Iyke Nnadi, said that he was happy that one of his constituents who hails from Mbieri in Mbaitoli LGA built the house.

The Interim Management Committee Chairman of Mbaitoli LGA, Hon. John Eke, in his own speech said that the state government was happy with the love shown to the triplets.

The chairman, Mbaitoli Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Clifford Amadi, who commissioned the bore hole water sunk for the children, said that Ndi Eze Mbaitoli were happy with the turn of events.

The highlight of the event was the commissioning of the two bedroom bungalow, a bore hole water, a shop built and stocked for the mother of the children.

Pastor Chinedu Nnadi of He Reigns Chapel, Owerri, who dedicated the building, bore hole water and the shop, said that God was happy with the act of love.

The cleric prayed for Chidiebube Okeoma and his team, the triplets and their family.
