Worried over the criticisms by the Nigeria  Society of Engineers (NSE), Imo State Chapter over poor quality flyovers and bridges by ex-governor Rochas Okorocha whose tenure as governor witnessed so many substandard projects, which forced the Engineers and other Imolites that christened the projects as “China Projects”, has vowed to install the next Chairman of the professional body.

According to an insider source, the ex-governor, now senator representing Imo West at the National Assembly has reached out to some of the Engineers that worked with him during his tenure, urging them to ensure the emergence of the controversial former Director and permanent Secretary  of works,Egbuka CC as Chairman.

NSE led by Engr Kingley Onwubiko had recently stormed the Panel of inquiring set up by ex-governor Emeka Ihedioha but inherited by Uzodinma to testify that virtually all the roads, bridges and flyovers built under Rochas Okorocha are death traps. They recommended that such projects should be demolished.

Okorocha is said not to be giving anything to chance as he sees this as an opportunity to pocket the group by installing Engr Egbuka CC who worked closely with him all through his 8 years in the office.Apart from working with Okorocha, Egbuka and Iche Uche Mbanaso, then commissioner for works had also set up a company called Imo Construction company Limited.

Egbuka as revealed, took over from Engr Nnebedum ,Okorocha’s Kinsman as Director of Works.Nnebedum was removed on the ground that he was uncompromising and Egbuka who at that time was seen as a willing tool took over.Report has it that for the period he served as Director of Works, Imo state witnessed the worst type of road constructions.

Recently, Egbuka was accused by a group, Imo good governance team of having to his name, high rise buildings scattered all over Imo State and beyond. They mentioned a mega filling station located along Port-Harcourt Road, Owerri.
