The Traditional ruler of Abba Autonomous Community in Nwangele L.G.A of Imo State, HRH Eze Ndubueze Maduabuchukwu has petitioned Chief Golden Maduabuchukwu alongside seven others through his counsel, E. C. Odunze Esq to the Commissioner of Police Imo State Command for assault and conduct likely to cause breach of peace in the community. He alleged that the accused have been parading as the Eze of the community without any lawful authority.

Among those listed in the petition alongside with Chief Golden Maduabuchukwu include Chief Josephat Alinnor, Chief Cletus Uzoho, Chief Sabastine Azunobi, Mr. Hyginus Nnanna, Mr. Eligwe Goddy, Nze Anele Arihi, Mr. Joe Enyeshi and others at large who are all of Abba Autonomous Community in Nwangele LGA, Imo State.

The petition which was addressed to the Commissioner of Police stated clearly that the complainant, HRH Eze Ndubueze Maduabuchukwu is the person duly recognized via the presentation of staff of office by the Government of Imo State as the traditional ruler of Abba Autonomous community in Nwangele LGA. It maintained that the suspects never wanted the complainant to be recognized as the traditional ruler and are now working assiduously to frustrate the complainant and as well truncate the already existing peace that characterizes the community.

The petition also recorded that on 8th August, 2020 and 29th August 2020 respectively, the suspects conspired amongst themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of peace in the community and chased away the members of the community who gathered in the community town hall for a meeting convened by the Eze of the community. The petition also accused the suspects that anytime HRH Eze Ndubueze Maduabuchukwu convenes any meeting in his official capacity to be held at the town hall, Chief Golden Maduabuchukwu and cohorts always schedule their own meeting at the same time and venue with the intention of disrupting the meeting thus causing and constituting breach of public peace.

The complainant reminded his traducers and the Commissioner of Police that it is the exclusive preserve of the Eze to recognize Chiefs but noted that the 1st suspect, “Chief Golden Maduabuchukwu”, who is presently parading and purporting as the Eze of the community (though without any lawful authority) has continued to summon and hold meetings of Council of Chiefs in Abba Autonomous Community, thus daring and testing his will provocatively and arrogantly.

It also reported that anytime the complainant in exercise of his duties as the traditional ruler gives directives for the metal gong of the community to be sounded for the purpose of disseminating any useful information to the people of the community, the suspects led by the 1st suspect would always send their agent to counter the information by sounding another metal gong just to usher in chaos in the community.

Following these disturbances and unwarranted disgruntlement, from the suspects, the meeting which ought to have been held in Abba Town Hall on 29/8/2020 was consequently shifted to a neighbouring autonomous community at Ekitiafor Town Hall, in order to avoid the possible breakdown of law and order in Abba Autonomous Community.

The traditional ruler of Abba Autonomous Community HRH Eze Ndubueze through this petition therefore urged the Commissioner of Police Imo State to use his good office to and launch a prompt investigation into the complaints in the petition within the ambit of the law in order to prevent the imminent breakdown of law and order in Abba Autonomous Community. Our reporter made several efforts to reach Chief Golden Maduabuchukwu on his mobile phone if only to respond to the allegations leveled against him but they all proofed abortive as he failed to answer his calls. Infact there is palpable danger and tension at Abba autonomous community that required the immediate intervention of not just the police but the peace and conflict resolution bureau in the state under Ohagwa.
