The leadership of Imo state Amalgamated Market and Allied Traders Association, ISAMATA, has expressed shock and empathy over the death of traders at Nkwo Mmiri Market, Nwangele LGA over the weekend.


In a release signed by the President,Hon. Emmanuel Ezeanochie which copy was made available to Tuesday Nigeria WATCHDOG, the market traders’ union described development as disturbing and sorrowful for people to die in such  horrific manner.


They condoled with families of the deceased,  traders ,entire Isiala Umuozu community and Nwangele LGA at large while assuring that in no distant time, a motor park will be built for them.According the release, the accident would have been avoidable if the market had a motor park where those vehicles involved in the accident would have parked.


ISAMATA also used the opportunity to caution the traders on danger of trading by the road sides and warned that every trader should henceforth desist from selling on the road as the tragic occurrence at Nkwo Mmiri Market, was a clear demonstration of the inherent dangers of street and road side trading.”Prevention they say, is better than cure”.


The release reads in part,”It is with a heavy heart that I, Honourable Emmanuel Ezeanochie, President of ISAMATA, on behalf of all  Executive Committee Members of State ISAMATA, commisurate with the Executive Committee members and the entire traders of Nkwo Mmiri Market, Isiala, Umuozu, Nwangele Local Government Area (LGA), over the tragic accident of May 1, 2021, that claimed some lives.


It is quite painful, disturbing and sorrowful for people to die in such a horrific and sudden manner especially when such people  woke up that day healthy and with great vision.


ISAMATA also condoles with the bereaved families, over the death of their loved ones some of who are their bread winners.

May God grant the bereaved families the fortitude to bear the loss and repose to the souls of the departed”.
