Describes comment as unpatriotic

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Imo State and Orlu Zone in particular, Dr. Ikenna Ihezuo has condemned in its entirety, the recent call on the Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma to resign his position as governor by the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

This is even as he described security of lives and property as everybody’s affairs and not only the Government.

The Imo State chapter of the PDP led by Charles Ugwu as the State Chairman had last Thursday organized what they described as world press conference at the party’s Secretariat along Okigwe Road Owerri and called on the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma to amongst other things resign his position as the Governor given his inability to provide Imo people with adequate security.

Reacting to the said release by the PDP, Ihezuo decried the party’s utterance revealing that such a statement should not have emanated from the major opposition party in the state.

He said that there must be a demarcation between politics and governance, adding that PDP as an opposition party should have joined hands with the Government of the day in its frantic efforts in the fight against insecurity instead of demanding for resignation of the Governor.

In the said release, Ihezuo pointed out that Nigeria as a nation is at the moment undergoing serious security challenges ranging from banditry in the North and unknown gunmen in the South hence all hands must be on deck towards finding a solution and not indifferent attitude of the PDP in Imo.

Ihezuo, who contested for the Orlu, Orsu and Oru East House of Representatives seat in the last election however used the medium to commend the effort of the state government in the fight against insecurity in the state, further appealed with all and sundry to see security as all comers affairs and not for the government alone.
