The adamant Commissioner for information, and strategy,Mr Declan Emelumba has again allegedly vowed to oppose the candidature of a female publisher, Ambassador Shirley Munonye.

Munonye, the Publisher of Frontline Newspaper had taken to her social media handle over the weekend  to alert the public of consistent threatening calls she receives since she declared interest  to contest  the chairmanship position of the Union.

Her post reads in part, “Good morning Colleagues and Happy Sunday.

Whoever is blackmailing me before the Government should be very ashamed of himself. Threat to life now.  Am disappointed at what is going on as some people thinking that they can hijack this Association and  handover this Noble body to the Government, you lie. Big time lie. I am a Woman, yes, but I cannot be intimidated”.

Munonye vowed to expose the commissioner behind the scene plans to scuttle her ambition, adding that in no distant time, she will make public why they said commissioner has vowed to stop her.

A close source to Munonye who spoke to this reporter in confidence disclosed that, actually Emelumba who goes about alleging that Munonye is a strong supporter of a governorship candidate, hence the reason to stop her at all cost.

It was further gathered that the said allegation against her was unfounded Munonye maintained that as Chief Executive of her media house, she is more concerned about managing her firm as such, every publisher is free to negotiate adverts from any politician same way he does to others.

When contacted, Munonye described the allegation as cheap blackmail which holds no water. She reiterated her commitment to contest the election no matter the conspiracy.

Emelumba in a manner likened to how he allegedly attempted to stop Barr Vivian Ottih’s   re-election bid before the plan crumbled and Ottih emerged by popular votes as Chairperson of NAWOJ in Imo state.

Effort to reach the commissioner for his reaction proved abortive as he didn’t take his call or return same.
