The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) Orlu branch on Tuesday in Owerri held the investiture of the 3rd branch Chairman, Engr. Gerald Ibe Okwe MNSE, MNIEEE and the Inauguration of the executive members who will pilot the affairs of the professional body.

Speaking at the occasion, the immediate past Chairman of NSE  Orlu branch, Engr. Chief V. C. Igiri stated that he is excited that a new era has officially begun in NSE Orlu branch after a challenging time they faced in the recent past.

He prayed that the newly inaugurated executive will succeed and achieve more than he did during his tenure as the branch Chairman. 

Representing the National President, Engr. Babagana Mohammed FNSE, Engr. Bob Nwazota FNSE who also doubled as the special guest of honour disclosed that NSE Orlu branch is very dear to the Nigerian Society of Engineers. He used the opportunity to congratulate the new executive and the new inductees, charging them to be worthy ambassadors of NSE.

In his welcome address, the newly installed 3rd branch Chairman of NSE in Orlu, Engr. Gerald noted that the occasion was very remarkable in the annals of NSE Orlu branch.

The 3rd branch Chairman further disclosed that the Orlu branch was carved out of Owerri branch in the year 2017 during the era of Engr. Sir Emeka Ugoanyanwu FNSE as the Chairman of Owerri branch to ease the already congested Owerri branch.

According to Engr. Gerald, “the focus of this dispensation will be centered on the adoption and implementation of corporate policies to reposition the branch for higher operational effectiveness and continuous relevance in the larger society”.

He assured that everyone will be carried along under his watch as the 3rd branch Chairman of Orlu NSE.He also reiterated the need for all hands to be on deck for them to achieve a milestone, stressing that teamwork remains the key to any successful administration.

The Distinguished guest of honour at the occasion, Rt. Hon. Jerry Alagbaoso, member representing Orsu, Orlu and Oru East Federal Constituency at the national assembly who was ably represented by his senior legislative aide, Chief Sir Olemgbe, charged NSE to be alive to its responsibilities in the society. He also called on the new Chairman to do his best to move the organization forward.

Highpoints of the occasion was the presentation of public lecture on the theme: Sustainable Development of Water Supply Infrastructure in Imo State which was delivered by Engr. Emeka Ugoanyanwu, the C. E. O. of Imo Water and Sewage Corporation.

The event also featured the induction of new members into the organization and presentation of awards of honour to individuals and organizations who have distinguished themselves in their fields of endeavor.
