A centenarian and a well respected community leader and the patriarch of Achigbu Dynasty, Nkwerre, Pa Isaiah Nwachukwu Achigbu has gone to be with the Lord.


Pa Achigbu reputed to be the oldest person in Nkwerre passed on at the ripe age of 114 years.


He was still very articulate and in good health even in his old age before he took a bow during a brief illness at the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri. He was an honest,God fearing Christian and a man of peace.


In his hay days, he lived  in Rivers State and later Aba, where he excelled in Trading. He is survived by his younger siblings, Sir, Moses Nwaneri Achigbu, a retired Principal (Special Class) and two sisters.


His children include: Mr. Sam Achigbu, Nze Chigozie Achigbu, Engr. Nze Chibuike Achigbu, “Akashaa Nwata” Nkwerre and Nze Okechukwu Achigbu a US based Military Officer. Others are Mrs. Ijeoma   and Mrs. Onyinyechi and many grand and great grand children.


According to a release by one of his children, Nze Engr. Lawrence Chibuike Achigbu a founding member of the PDP, major Oil and Gas player, Papa’s burial on the 4th of January, 2022, will be preceded with a Night of Praise and Worship at his country home on 3rd January, 2022. The Church service is at SS Peter and John, the Divine Cathedral, Nkwerre, to be presided over by the Rt. Rev. B.C. Okeke, JP, Lord Bishop of Orlu Diocese, while interment will be at his country home, Chikezie kindred, Amaorji-Ugwu, Nkwerre.

Reception follows thereafter at St. Augustines Grammar School field, Nkwerre.
