Former governor Rochas Okorocha’s son-in-law and erstwhile Chief of Staff, Uche Nwosu has alleged that Hon Eric Uwakwe, governor Hope Uzodinma’s Special Adviser  on youths was among those who attempted to kidnap him at the premises of St Peter’s Anglican Church, Eziama Obaire in Nkwerre LGA, while at the memorial service of his late mother on December 26,2021

Nwosu who was the Imo State governorship candidate of Action Alliance AA during the 2019 election stated this while speaking on an Ozisa 96.1 FM Radio programme.

Nwosu  revealed that Eric Uwakwe is one of the suspects behind his failed abduction, pointing out that the escalating insecurity in the state has become worrisome and urged the Uzodinma administration to concentrate on finding solution to the menace rather than dissipating time and energy on buck passing which he described as diversionary.

He said, “the government of the day should rise to the challenge and holistically tackle the issue instead of using the ugly situation to fight and antagonize perceived political enemies. This diversionary approach amounts to a waste of time and resources that will further worsen the situation.”

He also refuted the allegation that the Owelle Rochas Okorocha administration in the state empowered criminals with weapons recovered during the amnesty program, pointing out that all recovered weapons and ammunitions were handed over to security agencies and not left in the hands of individuals, as alleged.

Ugwumba Uche Nwosu expressed confidence that the Inspector General of Police who is conducting forensic investigation on the matter will arrive at a logical conclusion which will unravel the mystery behind his abduction and unveil those behind the criminal act. This he said will help in addressing the security situation in the state for the good of all.

According to Nwosu,is on record that crime has tripled in the State with increased level of kidnapping, Killings, Rituals, disappearance of People without trace , fear of the unknown etc.

He averred that the situation can be salvaged if the people rise up against impunity, intimidation, harassment and vicious politics of vendetta.

Meanwhile,Imolites have continued to condemn the act of abduction of Ugwumba Uche Nwosu and  the frightening  Insecurity in the state. They called on IGP, FG and International Community to come to their help since the State has turned to something unimaginable.

Effort to reach Hon Eric Uwakwe for his reaction on the allegation proved abortive as he didn’t take calls put across to his phone line.
