The top echelon of the Imo Internal Revenue Service IIRS have denied reports of alleged sex scandal said to be rocking the agency.

The chairman, Dr Ifeanyi Okeke who made the refutal in a statement he signed and made available to the press dismissed the allegation as the handiwork of idle minds and mischief makers who are suffering from hallucinations and the opposition who are bent on denting the credibility, integrity and reputation of the government revenue generating agency to achieve their devilish goal.”

The statement noted that as an agency comprising decent men and women of impeccable character, it can’t indulge in any despicable and reprehensible act as its primary concern and objective is generating revenue to enable government provide dividends of democracy to the people.

It urged members of the public to discountenance and ignore the rumour which it described as a tissue of lies.

The  statement also enjoined Imo people to sustain their support for the shared prosperity agenda of the state government, “anchored on Rehabilitation, Reconstruction and Recovery, by paying their taxes as at and when due.”

It assured that government would continue to ensure effective and judicious utilization of available resources for the enhancement of the people welfare.
