-NBA, Njaba Lawmaker, others hail Congratulate Him

The appointment of Prof U.U Chukwumaeze (SAN) as the Vice Chancellor of Imo State University is said to have sparked off unprecedented jubilation within and outside the institution.

Our reporter, who visited the school yesterday, shortly after the announcement of Prof Chukwumaeze’s appointment, said that most of the staff and students she spoke to, described the appointment as a typical case of putting a square peg in a square hole.

They expressed optimism that he will deploy his wealth of experience, administrative acumen and managerial ingenuity towards transforming and repositioning the ivory tower for optimum service delivery, academic excellence and realization of set objectives.

Prof Chukwumaeze (SAN), a Professor of Criminal Law, former Dean, Faculty of Law and later, Dean of Post Graduate Studies and Dean of Deans until his recent appointment as Vice Chancellor.

Reacting to the appointment, the lawmaker for Njaba state Constituency, Rt.Hon Uju Onwudiwe expressed joy over the development.She commended the governor of Imo state, Senator Hope Uzodinma for always identifying the best brains for appointment into key positions as Vice Chancellor of IMSU.

In a release signed by the lawmaker of which copy was made available to this reporter, Onwudiwe added that ,”there is no doubt that your towering intellectual height, unblemished track record, people-oriented disposition and wealth of experience garnered over time will be deployed towards making Imo state university a reference point in the comity of tertiary institutionns in the country in no distant time”.

Similarly, the Nigeria Bar Association,NBA Owerri chapter,through it’s  secretary, Barr Chinedu Agu  described   Prof. Chukwumaeze as an Ivy-league and erudite Professor of Criminal Law, a consummate Senior Advocate of Nigeria and a seasoned University administrator.


The Association which shelters all lawyers in Nigeria of which Prof UU Chukwumaeze is a member congratulated him on the appointment and wished him a fruitful tenure.
