·        Calls on representatives at all levels to be accessible

Comrade Precious Nwadike, Chairman, Caretaker Committee of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Imo State Council has felicitated with the people of Orlu L.G.A. of Imo State on the occasion of this year’s Easter celebration.

Nwadike who hails from Umudiatu Orlu, while addressing the youths when he visited his maternal home at Umuna, Orlu urged them to use the opportunity offered by the Easter celebration and its significance to embrace God and shun all acts, conduct and utterances that will in any way endanger their lives and that of others.

He noted that Orlu indigenes and residents have suffered a lot and gone through chequered and excruciating processes arising from lack of focused and purposeful leadership.

“What is presently happening in Orlu and environ is as  a result of unemployment, hardship, lack, deprivation and other attendant factors that have now made the youths  vulnerable.”

He called on elected representatives at all levels to come closer to the people and  feel their pulse with a view to proffering solutions to their problems.

He regretted that the refusal of those in positions of trust and responsibility to utilize the resources of the state in empowering the people is the reason for the alarming spate of insecurity in Orlu and the state at large.

Nwadike further expressed dismay that “despite the abysmal failure of leadership some persons who did not do the needful to justify the mandate that was initially given to them on a platter of gold are still determined and making frantic efforts to come back after the expiration of their tenures.”

He called on the youths to be peaceful, law abiding and shun all forms of violence, stressing, “that what our people need most now, is peace, harmony and mutual-co-existence which are necessary ingredients for growth, progress and development”.
