So it was that the prestigious Events Magazine in far away Houston in the United States, with their eagle eye was able to spot for honour a woman of royalty who had since quietly plied her philanthropy.
At its second anniversary, slated for Saturday, April 16, 2022, HRH Ugoeze Chinyere Edith Obichukwu will be among 13 others to be admitted into the Magazine’s Roll of Honours with an award of excellence for her exemplary community services
Ugoze who bagged her B.Sc and M.A degrees in Foods and Nutrition from Texas Southern University in HoustonTexas, USA is married to HRH Eze Udo Chukwuemeka Obichukwu, a prominent royal father in the US.
In 1987, The Greater Owerri Community made her their first Matron followed by other groups in appreciation of her services. In 2005, she was honoured by Ogwa Federated Association for her services. She was also given the title ‘Nne Oha Ogwa’ and the International Woman of the Year in 2009.
As a community oriented woman she belongs to many associations in Houston Texas and has helped many of them succeed in their endeavours in various ways. She has received many accolades from various organizations. She is widely honoured and respected even among men’s groups.
She worked for Fort Bend and retired in 2016. Her philanthropy extends to donating to churches, schools and communities in her country home. When the Owerri Women Association went on medical mission to Nigeria she was instrumental in bringing them to Ogwa and helped sponsor them as their nutritionist.
She claims to owe her success and strength to the Almighty God whom she has never wavered from serving with all her strength.
Speaking on the award, the chairman of Umuonyemaobi Family of Uru, Isi Ogwa, Mbaitoli LGA, Imo State, Afam Echi expressed happiness that honour is given to whom it is due.
In his words, “I am not surprised that my wife, our mother and loving woman is receiving this award in far away United States. She is humble, accommodating and has no boundaries, ever smiling, loving and cherished by all.
“On behalf of the family we congratulate her and her husband for being good ambassadors of the family. We are happy to be associated with their successes’’
Ugoeze is married with 5 children, all college graduates.
