Imo Lawmakers Impeach Speaker, Ibeh over  unpaliamentary conduct

As if the executive or colleagues were provoked by a recent viral video where the Imo Speaker, Mr Kennedy Ibe was yesterday impeached by his colleagues.

Though, report of what transpired was scanty, it was gathered that the lawmakers impeached Ibe for  reasons that border on unparliamentary conduct and embezzlement of funds meant for renovation of the Imo state House of Assembly complex.

Ibeh’s tenure as speaker is adjudged to be the most vindictive out of all the speakers that ever served since the emergence of Senator Hope Uzodinma. He was said to have declared the seat of Nkwerre Lawmaker vacant for detecting to another party, People Democratic Party.

A source who pleaded anonymity disclosed that Ibeh was not impeached. He was rather given the option of resignation which he explored. Hence the reason for his emergency resignation. 

Another source stated that the lawmakers had long collected signatures and plotting to impeach the Speaker upon resumption. When he got wind of it, he chose to resign.

When contacted, the Majority Leader of the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon Kanayo Onyemaechi said that Barr Emeka Nduka is now the new Speaker while Rt. Hon Amara Iwuanyanwu remains the Deputy Speaker.
