–   Calls For Withdrawal Of Military From Agwa, Izombe Communities

The International President of Protect The Weak International Foundation ( PROWIF) Mazi Chinonso Uba popularly known as Nonsonkwa has lambasted the Imo state governor, Sen Hope Uzodimma and  security agencies in Imo State over what he described as ‘Conspiracy of Silence’ as herdsmen attacked and killed a man in Umuekpu Agwa in Oguta LGA of Imo State.

Recall, that herdsmen on Sunday attacked and killed a young man who querried them on why they allowed their cattle to destroy his farmland. Since the ugly event occurred, neither the Imo state police command nor the State government has issued any press statement on the matter.

According to Mazi Uba, the silence of both the government and the police is conspiratory and suspicious.

“The primary duty of every government is protection of lives and properties. Therefore any government that cannot do so has no business being in power. This Government has no value for human lives. For over 48hrs that an Imo citizen was gunned down in the most gruesome manner, the Imo state government and the Imo state Police command are yet to issue a press release over the ugly incident. This is the height of irresponsibility and insensitivity. “

Mazi Uba further urged the state House of Assembly to revisit and probably review the anti-grazing law, identify the weakness of the law and strengthen it to forestall reoccurrence of such ugly experience in Imo State.

“This is not the first time that such ugly incident is happening. It happened in Agwa few years ago when a man was killed by herdsmen on his farm.  It happened at Amakohia Ubi, it has also happened at Orogwe, Irete, Ifakala, Mbieri, Ogbaku etc.

Herdsmen have continued to cause havoc unchecked, yet the government has remained adamant to the plight of the people.”

Mazi Uba decried the recalcitrant position of the herdsmen and their daring tendencies which is an invitation to anarchy if the youths of the state decide to rise against them.

Commenting on the military invasion of Agwa, where about five persons including a pregnant woman and a mad man were allegedly killed by the military who were supposed to calm the tension, Mazi Uba called for enquiry into the extrajudicial killing of innocent Imo citizens of Agwa and Izombe extraction and asked the military to withdraw to the barracks and allow the Nigeria Police do their legitimate duty of maintaining peace and order.
