–      As Imo State Elections Petition Tribunal Resumes Sitting In Nassarawa

Sequel to the relocation of the Imo State Election Petition Tribunal from Owerri to Nassarrawa State by the President, Court of Appeal, as a result of the frightening level of the insecurity and threat to the lives of the judges, the tribunal resumed sitting resumed yesterday.

The National/State Assembly Election Petition Tribunal which formerly sat at the Old High Court premises, along Orlu Road, Owerri, the Imo State capital, and was relocated to the Senior Magistrate’s Court, inside Muhammadu Buhari International Market, Kam in Nasararwa State, continued its pre-hearing yesterday.

The 3-man Tribunal, looked into suits filed by parties and candidates who expressed reservation about election results as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, which they believe, were riddled with obvious irregularities and discrepancies.

Among the petitions to be considered by the tribunal today, is that of the contentious Mbaitoli- Ikeduru Federal Constituency seat, where the petitioner Rt. Hon. Uche Ogbuagu, Flagbearer of the Labour Party in the March, 18, election, is contesting the declaration of the APC candidate as the winner of that election which his constituents and a cross section of political pundits have described as untenable”.
