...Say No Agreement Reached With Govt

The people of Umuoke Umuagiriga Uborji Okuku in Owerri West LGA of Imo State have refuted the media claim by Commissioner of Lands, Hon. Noble Atulegwu that the Government of Imo State had paid them money for their land after a healthy settlement was reached between the community and the government.

The people said no form of settlement was reached between them and the state government let a lone paying them off for their land (Amabekee Farm Land). They maintained that there was never a time the state government came to them requesting them to give out their land for any kind of project or development.

In a release signed and made available to the media through their elders, Mr. Henry Uka and Elder Sampson Ohanyere, the people stated that the media claim by the Commissioner for Lands was a falsehood peddled to deceive gullible minds including government with the intent to grab and sell off their land with his cohorts and mischief makers for their own selfish interest.

They however called on Governor Hope Uzodimma to rise, intervene and save their land from being hijacked by Noble Atulegwu and his men who they accused of discrediting the good image of Governor Hope Uzodimma, saying they will always accommodate the interest of government if it wishes to genuinely acquire their land.

“Sell of form is on going for whose land? There is no excuse for ignorant of law. Those who lack knowledge should seek for it. Let the Commissioner read Land Acquisition Act of 1976 to educate himself. He wants to forcefully take our land and give it to a developer for sell in the name of government”, they decried.

“Before it was Savicon, now it is Chris Dependable Properties. Chris Nlemoha is an indigene of Uborji Okuku who came to his people and informed them that government did not take our land. He had now made a U- turn and out of his selfishness, he parades unlettered Old Men, inducing them with money to say and behave contrary to the wishes and aspirations of their people”, Uka and Ohanyere added.

They observed that “Savicon did this kind of evil through the former Commissioner of Lands during Owelle Rochas Okorocha’s administration by using Old Men. Though, we vehemently resisted them and Chris Nlemoha, the Chairman of Chris Dependable Properties is not reliable. After a thorough investigation, we discovered that the same developer is giving some gullible elders money to support him to hijack our land and sell them off to willing buyers”.

They noted that “the Bank Account that remitted the money was his (Chris Nlemoha) Company’s Account and the Commissioner of Lands is aware of this. We have our facts to show Imo people. How can government take our land and sell them to individuals with Okuku community having no road, no good school building, no pipe born water, no working healthcare, the electricity we use is out of self efforts before the intervention of federal government”.

“We will accommodate government interests if it wishes to take our land genuinely (not from backdoor or backyard business). The real government must fellow due process of land acquisition. Yes, we have a place if government makes their interest known to us”, they emphasized.
